About Me

About me
Skilled and compassionate humanistic clinical psychotherapist, psychotherapeutic counsellor, supervisor, with a special interest in Gestalt therapy, with over 30 years experience of working as a therapist, in a wide range of settings.
* My style is active, involved and I enjoy working in relational depth
*I communicate with clients in a clear and direct way without jargon or theorising, in a spirit of authenticity and kindness
*I value warmth, creativity and imagination
*I am passionate about my work and have a social conscience

I have enjoyed a full and rich life myself and have encountered many significant challenges along the way! I, therefore, have a wealth of life experience to draw upon. I endeavour to ‘live in good faith with myself’ (being true to myself) whilst enjoying supporting others to do the same. I believe life is full of both joy and pain: 'We must decide if we want to stay where we are or if we want to get to the other side of pain and live a full and purposeful life. That’s how you find the joy' (G Aldred).

In order to 'get to the other side' we require, amongst other factors, good awareness of ourselves and others (needs, wishes, fears and life dreams), acceptance and respect. Fundamental to forming and maintaining fulfilling relationships.

The therapy I offer provides the opportunity for increasing self awareness, in the context of an accepting and supportive relationship with myself as your therapist. I help facilitate my clients ability to make informed, wise life choices.

Couples Counselling:

I provide a safe space and therapeutic help in order for you and your partner:

*to complete and resolve unfinished disputes and conflicts in a healthy and respectful way,
*to fully express your unmet needs, dreams and desires to each other
*to develop greater emotional/relational literacy
*to gain deeper awareness around the fundamental dynamics within your relationship which is potentially life changing for you and your family.
*find joy in everything you choose to do. Every job, relationship, home... it's your responsibility to love it, or change it.'
