About Me

I am a psychoanalytic and psychodynamic psychotherapist who is able to provide a safe, non-judgmental, warm and professional space to explore and resolve emotional issues and distress. Psychotherapy is a clinical treatment for anyone, often people can feel daunted or afraid of talking to a professional about their problems, however I work from a relational prospective which means that we will work together and use the therapeutic alliance as a key tool in understanding your difficulties.

Psychotherapy is an explorative practise, it allows a reflective and non-directive space for you to bring whatever is on your mind. Often the root of our issues and complaints are unconscious and psychotherapy aims to illuminate areas that often we miss when trying to solve things alone. Psychotherapy will enable more insight and understanding into what is happening in your emotional world and in relationships between you and others. Often it can lead to a more stable and secure sense of self and this can eliviate many psychological symptoms.

Psychotherapy will begin by arranging an assessment session which is 1.5 hours and has a charge of £85. During this session we will think about your key issues and areas you wish to work on. We will also spend time reflecting upon your upbringing and key experiences and relationships in your life which you feel have influenced your development. This longer session is an opportunity to assess our compatibility for working and I may also offer advise to alternative treatments or routes, should we feel that psychotherapy may not be right for you at this time.

Following assessment, I will offer either once or twice weekly 50 minute therapy sessions depending on your need. I suggest that initially these are conducted face to face however there is a possibility of telephone or video sessions should this suit your needs. Each 50 minute session costs £55.

Psychotherapy is often an open ended way of working meaning that during the course of treatment, the ending may be thought about at a time that feels right for you. However I can also work to a 6-12 month time scale which can be thought about during assessment.
