At times, life may seem chaotic, overwhelming or meaningless. We may be paralysed by too much choice or believe we have no choice at all. This can lead to feelings of anxiety, uncertainty and sadness; sometimes linked to a particular experience or at other times to nothing specific. What we may want is to make sense of our feelings and gain a clearer understanding of ourselves, our lives and relationships.
As a Psychotherapist/Counsellor, I provide a confidential, non-judgemental space to explore experiences and hopefully make sense of your thoughts and feelings. It can often be so much easier to talk to someone outside of your usual circle of family and friends, especially if you are concerned about burdening others with your problems or feel there is no-one who truly understands.
Although I would describe myself as an Integrative/Existential Practitioner, I have studied a number of disciplines in my training, such as psychoanalysis, CBT and humanist therapies, which have all influenced the way I work with clients. However, I firmly believe that each person arrives as an individual. You have your own understanding of your world and I am not here either to diagnose or dictate next steps.
The answers are for you to find but, from experience, I hope that by sharing your difficulties and concerns and through questioning and exploring together, you can become more self-aware and able to see choices and solutions. Most importantly, I hope you will feel you are not judged, not a burden and can be totally understood in a confidential space.
We can look at issues affecting your day-to-day experiences – what is happening in the present, how your past affects life today and your possibilities for the future.
I also hold a diploma in Integrative Supervision from Minster Centre and provide supervision to both individual therapists and groups.
