My Approach

I am a humanistic-integrative psychotherapist and my approach is based on a humanistic philosophy, valuing and understanding that each human being is unique and brings their own individual needs to the therapeutic relationship. The humanistic philosophy that underpines my approach places the role of relationship between the therapist and client as central to how we develop and go forward in the work we do together. I work alongside you as the client, from a client-led pespective, which means it is the needs and wishes of you the client that are met and which dictate the variety of techniques and methods available from which I draw upon in supporting the you on your journey of self-actualisation. The therapeutic relationship I offer is located within a safe, emotionally held, environment from which the client has the opportunity to reflect and explore their inner and outer worlds and making those connections, in a supportive, non-judgemental, dedicated space. I have experience working with a range of techniques including Behavioural, Cognitive, Creative therapy, Existential, Gestalt, Play therapy, Sand tray therapy, also from Person-centred, Phenomenological perspectives. I am trained in the core model of Transactional Analysis. I work with children, adults and groups.

About Me

Prior to training as a Psychotherapist, I worked within a variety of settings including educational, public and private sector organisations and community organisations. I have experience in working and participating in multi-cultural settings and I am bilingual speaking, Italian and English. My background is one where I have lived in three different countries and therefore experienced a variety of cultures, the challenges of belonging, including my own experience of growing up as child of non-English speaking immigrants. I therefore have a strong appreciation of respecting difference as equality and working with non-verbal cues and different cultural norms, social, religious and otherwise.

If you would like to work with me, we would meet to have an intial consultation so that you can take some time to decide whether you feel comfortable working with me. If you do choose to continue, the first few meetings would be about looking at a range of treatment and assessment options, deciding and agreeing together how next to proceed. The most important thing is that you get what you need either by continuing to work with me for an appropriately contracted amount of time, or being supported to make the decision thats best for you for the next part of your journey and therefore being signposted appropriately, safely and professionally.

I have experience working with children, young people, adults, workplace groups, family groups in educational primary, secondary and further education settings, charitable settings, CCAMHS/NHS and workplace settings in both the public and private sector. I am a qualified secondary school teacher, trained mediator and have also worked with executive teams and human resource departments in team building, conflict resolution and developing programmes for training needs.

I hold a Masters in Psychology and Religion and as a psychotherapist I am qualified to work with children and young people and as a psychotherapeutic counsellor with adults. I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychotherapy, Diploma in Psychotherapy Child Psychotherapy UKCP, Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling Children and Young People Specialism UKCP/BACP, Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling Adult Specialism UKCP/BACP.
