My Approach

We all go through challenging relationships, events, or periods in our lives. Sometimes a recent occurrence triggers troubling memories or emotions from the past; other times we feel nothing or feel stuck, want to make sense of feelings, or the most of circumstances. Whatever troubles us, psychotherapy can offer a safe, non-judgemental, and confidential space for self-exploration and expansion of what is possible.
You do not have to do it alone.

My aim is to facilitate your process towards flexibility, healing serenity, and fulfilment. Drawing on various approaches, I wish to collaboratively explore your feelings, beliefs, journey, and goals, with a view of expanding your choices and growthful experiences. This takes time and patience and is not necessarily linear – none of us move forward always in a straight line. Psychotherapy is a gentle, albeit sometimes challenging, incremental, and far-sighted process. For our brains to form new adaptative modifications, time is needed, along with healing interventions. And supported exploration of what you might not have usually chosen can be transformative.

To me, our collaboration manifests by setting realistic expectations as we define goals of our work together; wandering and wondering with you in a process where we are both explorers; therefore staying open to your insight as well as mine; respecting your pace and the territories you might (or not) wish to tread at particular times; exploring past and present interactions, including ours; recurrently checking whether I understood you and how you experience “us”; regularly reviewing our work, goals and process; preparing the ending of our work.
If you would like to consider working together, please drop me an email. If you decide you would like to meet up, we could arrange a session where you tell me some of your story, what brings you to therapy, and your expectations; I can explain more about my way of working if you wish. There is no commitment to carry on thereafter – it is important that you feel comfortable and that I might be a good fit for you.

About Me

I am an Integrative Psychotherapist with a background in Developmental Neuroscience. As an integrative practitioner, I draw from a range of theories and types of interventions aiming to tailor these specifically to my client. Nonetheless, at the core of my practice lies the therapeutic relationship, which research and experience have shown to be key for successful therapy.

I offer short-term, long-term, and open-ended psychotherapy (in English or Portuguese) to individuals 16 years-old or over. I have worked with a wide variety of clients, distinct in age, gender, sexual orientation, nationality, ethnicity, faith, life-stage, profession, etc. Issues I work with include anxiety, depression, suicidality, eating disorders, substance abuse, self-harm, loss, divorce, bereavement, obsessive compulsion, hypochondria, phobias, trauma, bullying, life choices or changes, low self-esteem, enmeshment, insecure attachment, challenges brought about by physical or neurodiversity.

I am a registered member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP; registration no. 2011183650) and work in accordance with its Code of Ethics and Professional Practice. As such, I regularly participate in Continued Personal and Professional Development sessions or workshops, and further my work via professional supervision.
