My Approach

I am essentially psychoanalytic with more than a little influence from Jung.

About Me

I am a psychoanalytic psychotherapist and have worked for 35 years with many people who struggle to make a better life. Perhaps less usually for a psychotherapist I have also had a career in science and was for many years a researcher and then a senior manager or director of high tech companies. I find the skills complement each other in surprising ways.

I work with

  • Companies
  • Couples
  • Individuals

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

Loss and separation, identity and spirituality, shock and trauma all coalesce when we are impacted by bereavement. Most of us find a way forward in what is a natural process but sometimes we just cannot get beyond something, often the rage at what has happened. Talking can help find a way especially if you feel your companion on the road has trod it before.
Everything in psychotherapy is about relationships of one kind or another. By working and talking together we too will form a relationship and that relationship will mirror a lot of what goes on outside the room. This is the core of psychotherapy.
Spirituality has been an issue for humanity in every culture and throughout the entirety of the history of the race. Love it or hate it, it will at some point be an issue. I have worked extensively with people who struggle to make sense of strong feelings around this and whereas I don't have the answers we usually find the struggle together to be helpful.
I love to work with therapists who are genuinely curious about their work. I believe strongly that supervisor and supervisees are fellow travellers and that together we can make better sense of the work than we can when struggling alone. My focus is always on the interactions between us as the analogue of the interactions you are bring for discussion.
