I offer person-centred psychotherapy/counselling. This means my therapy approach is built upon the philosophical foundation that as human beings, the unique ways we live and survive are to be respected and trusted. Through experiencing an ongoing, affirming environment it's possible to move towards developing your personal potential and to feel you're living a more enriched life.
I have undertaken specialist training for working with LGBTQIA people, sex workers, social issues impacting men and working sensitively with neurodivergent ways of being (including autistic LGBTQIA+ clients). I have experience of working with the partners of transgender and non-binary people wishing to explore their experiences.
Other areas I have practice experience of:
Experiences beyond words/not being able to put experiences into words
Familial estrangement and chosen families
Gender and relationship diversity and expression across genders and relationship types
Working with asexual/ace clients
Coming out issues for LGBTQ+ people and the impact of heterosexism/homophobia/biphobia/transphobia
I am a person-centred psychotherapist who has been working in therapy practice since 2014. Over the years, I have worked with clients in short-term and and long-term therapy. I’ve been privileged to work with many clients of differing ages, genders, ethnicities, sexualities, abilities/disabilities, nationalities and social-cultural backgrounds as well as those who hold religious beliefs or no belief.
There could be many reasons why you’re looking for psychotherapy. It could be due to a particular issue or a number of issues that are troubling you or causing distress; perhaps you’re experiencing a general sense of discontent and unease that’s more difficult to describe. Whatever brings you, I aim to provide a safe environment where we can explore what’s most relevant for you and at your pace. Communicating empathy towards you and your experiences alongside providing a warm, accepting therapy space are the cornerstones of my therapy practice, as is responding to you with authenticity and consideration.
I have received training for working sensitively with clients with neurodivergent ways of being and self-describe as neurodivergent. As such, I have fidget toys in my practice room and welcome any needs you might have (e.g. stimming and/or sensory processing). Additionally, I have pens and paper available for expressing thoughts and feelings in non-verbal ways.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
