My approach to psychotherapy is client driven. You, the client, bring whatever you are wrestling with at that moment, and this forms the starting point for our conversation. We then follow this conversation to see where it leads. Usually this takes us somewhere interesting and sheds light on the situation. Ultimately the aim is to understand how you think, and how these thoughts impact your understanding of yourself and the world. In return I tend to be fairly open about what I'm thinking.
Return to Face-to-face, September 1st 2021
Following the reopening of the Guild of Psychotherapists building, I am once again able to offer face to face meetings at 47 Nelson Square. I am continuing to offer therapy via the telephone, or via Zoom/Skype for those would prefer it.
Looking for a little help?
I offer a confidential and non-judgemental space to explore what ails you. I am a psychoanalytic therapist, which means using language to understand our beliefs about ourselves and our place in the world, and how these can limit us. But where the classic notion of the analyst is one who is mostly silent, I prefer something more like a conversation.
In my view the key requirement for those seeking therapy is curiosity about the self. If I had to choose a speciality it would be the following:
● Lacking a sense of direction
● Personal relations leave a bitter taste in the mouth
● Struggle to know what will make you happy
