My Approach

I hold an MSc. in Integrative Psychotherapy and a diploma and UKCP accreditation in Clinical Supervision with Soul.

About Me

I warmly welcome you to my page. You have taken a courageous first step towards improving your life satisfaction.

I know that sometimes our sense of direction and ways of coping in life can get a little out of sync and even friends or loved ones seem absent or unable to help. Sometimes they’re part of the problems we are dealing with. Whether you’re seeking a simple improvement or healing from deep wounds, within yourself and/or with others, I can help. As a psychotherapist I come into your situation with fresh eyes, an open heart, and much experience and strength to help you regain your sense of who you are.

About Me

I have over 17 years’ experience in the caring professions and a Master’s Degree in Psychotherapy. In our sessions, we will work together to build a safe and secure environment; where you don’t feel judged, and you have the freedom to explore which ever issue you’ve come to therapy for.

I have always had a passion for working with people, and I’m truly humbled by every person who makes that brave journey towards self-knowing and development in therapy. I have specialist interests in gender and sexuality affirmative therapy; cross-cultural therapy; and a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, stress, loneliness and sexual health, in addition to relationship and work related issues.

I offer a full range of psychotherapy services to meet your unique needs. I believe that finding the right therapist is an important part of reaching out for help. Like other psychotherapists I draw on my own personal growth and psychotherapy experiences alongside my formal graduate training to enhance our work together. I have a background in Social Work and held an honorary contract with the NHS Umbrella Health Birmingham.

So call, and we can talk about what’s going on for you and whether I might be a good fit for helping you at this point in your journey. I look forward to hearing from you!

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

Hello and welcome :o) Where to start... Well, to give you some idea on whether you might want to reach out, here's a bit of my professional C.V., a touch about me, and, I hope, spinkle of insight into the way I work. So, let's see... I'm interested in the relational aspect of both the therapeutic and supervisory relationship, and lean towards this style of working. This means that together we pay attention to the experience you and I or you and your patient are having together. Giving plenty of space for the existential, philosophical, and spiritual elements that enrich our intersubjective world. To compliment this, I've a keen interest in nature and the natural healing options that are available to us through the mycelium network, amongst other things; and with a particular focus in our position on Mother Earth and the healing gifts she offers to us. With extensive personal, professional and academic history in cross-cultural working; I bring an authentic, soulful approach to our relationship - with vibrancy, wit, and a little bit of sass! My background as a social worker has equipped me well to guide and support you in working with abuse, adoption, social and racial justice (I have considerable frontline experience of working with refugees and asylum-seeking children and families, unaccompanied children, with young offenders, and in child protection). Complimenting my experience, I am professionally trained to Master's level, in the many nuances of safeguarding and court work both with adult and with child and adolescent patients. From this position, I believe our work as psychotherapists, in a supervisory relationship; would have firm foundations for us to build upon. This is both trauma informed, supportive, and with my added culturally and racially affirmative vibe. On that note, I currently teach a number of theories as part of a UKCP accredited training programme in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling. This comes in many different forms, including skills practice, lecturing, and facilitating personal and professional development groups. I have post qualifying training and learning in African Psychology, and Global African studies. Additionally, I have a history of teaching and facilitating lectures, workshops, and groups on the often thorny, sometimes shameful and frequently empowering issues of race and culture. In my former role as Midland Lead for a national professional network for therapists of African and Asian heritage; I honed my experience in facilitating both practitioner and student group work, and mentoring student and professional psychotherapists and counsellors. Having held a seat for a two year term on the board of directors for an international therapy advancement board; I have the beginnings of understanding the many nuances of these microcosmic spaces. Whilst simultaneously, taking part in my own ongoing professional training with a Californian based institute that teaches the relational aspects of Gestalt therapy; I enjoy a bit of international collegiality and learning, to add to my integrative style of working. I believe that, as with my description of myself, here; there are more aspects of life that shape us than we can ever realistically name. So, I offer the supervision space as an open invitation to welcome in the unique person that you are, from one session to the next, so that we can experience what emerges in relation to you and your work with the humans you choose to be in the service of. I'm sure I have more to tell you, and I'm interested to know who you are. So, let's talk instead, and see what's possible, if at all!
