My Approach

Systemically and psychodynamically trained, as well as informed by behavioural, trauma and attachment focused insights and practice, I am interested in understanding the whole person and/or people with whom I am working. My approach is discursive and interactive as a result. The encounter between therapist and client(s) is profoundly and integrally relational, and I am wanting to foreground this in any work I undertake, encouraging an open dialogue between myself and those with whom I speak, that is professionally held, but which puts the individual(s) firmly at the centre of their own therapeutic engagement and experience.

About Me

I have been practising in the field of counselling and psychotherapy since 2000. I am experienced at working with adults, children and young people, individuals, couples and family groups in statutory (NHS and educational), voluntary and private settings. My interest is in facilitating better relationships both within the self and between the self and others in the belief that this can lead to happier living. I am used to working with a range of presentations, issues and difficulties, for example depression, life stage transitions, family break down, abuse, chronic and terminal illness, bereavement. My work is trauma and attachment informed and grounded in systemic and psychodynamic understandings, I also integrate other psychotherapeutic understandings to meet need, for example using CBT and Mindfulness based approaches in my work with clients.
