My Approach

I work from a psychodynamic and psychoanalytic perspective, based on the principle that problems and distress in the present may stem from experiences earlier in our lives. Understanding them and working through the root cause of any difficulties can help to heal the emotional pain and to find the best way forward.

About Me

I am an experienced psychotherapist working in Fulham, south-west London. I provide a safe and impartial setting where we can think together about any difficulties that you may be experiencing. I work from a psychodynamic perspective, based on the principle that problems and distress in the present may stem from experiences from our past. Understanding these can help to gain fresh insights and to find the best way forward. To set up an initial consultation or to discuss any questions or concerns that you may have please contact me by phone or email. For more info please visit www.martinabilmayercounselling.co.uk.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I have worked with many parents of children with special needs and have first hand experience of raising a child on the spectrum myself, which led me to design my therapeutic course called "Healing Through Autism" - a one on one, individually tailored transformational course for parents of children with special needs. The course is unique as it focuses on working with and releasing the feelings that get triggered in the parent as a result of their child's difficulties. By releasing and healing those feelings the parent moves into balance and that in turn triggers shifts and opens up possibilities in the child. The course also teaches how to build a relationship with one's child that is based on shared experiences and connection, the fundamentals that then allow for real change and growth to become possible for the child.
