Hi, I’m Mark a registered psychotherapist & somatic practitioner based in London.
I remember how important it felt to pick a therapist that felt right for me, yet somehow stepping in blindly, knowing very little about the person. It is therefore important to me that you have space to make a choice with whom you want to start, or continue, your journey with. With that in mind, please feel free to set up a call or a one off session to see if we want to work together.
Care, curiosity, empathy and creativity are at the heart of my work. My approach is based on Process Oriented Psychology, my clinical practice in the NHS and my qualifications, studies and research in Embodiment and Wellbeing. I use an integrative approach to meet each person individually and to help people overcome difficulties and to find meaning, ease and happiness.
I deeply believe that people already have what they need. That by bringing a gentle curiosity to all parts of our existence, and by trusting the creative pattern that underlie often seemingly disturbing, chaotic or painful experiences, a way forward will emerge organically. This is not to belittle the difficulties and pain that you might experience. More that by becoming aware of all our thoughts, felt experiences, body experiences and life situations, both the welcome and unwelcome ones, new ways will emerge.
Important within this is to work with what feels right and appropriate for you, and you can expect a safe, non-judgemental and empathetic space to process and journey.
Awareness of the dynamics of power and privilege in our society, as well as in the therapy room, are important underpinnings of my work. I specifically welcome people from marginalised or racialised groups, and actively work on an awareness of my own socialisation, actions and privileges.
Therapy can be long or short term, there is no prescribed time frames. I usually ask people to come for a reduced rate one-off session and if it feels right for both of us we can then agree on a number of sessions. This can then be regularly reviewed, with an agreed closing session.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
I am a registered Psychotherapist (UKCP) and Somatic Practitioner (BMCA).
Besides practising psychotherapy, I work as mental health social worker for many years, offer workshops and talks and teach Embodiment & Somatics classes.
I have an MA in Community Arts and have performed in and designed performance projects, including participatory video projects and community performances. I have performed in England, Scotland, the US and have run workshops in Palestine. As a facilitator I have experience of large group facilitation through consensus models and more recently through Process Oriented Psychology.
