My Approach

I consider myself an integrative transactional analyst psychotherapist. This means that I develop my approach to psychotherapy to meet the needs each person I am sitting with as I believe everyone is unique. My psychotherapy training in Transactional Analysis was robust. I trained as a Transactional Analyst psychotherapist (Certified Transactional Analyst in Psychotherapy)) and originally as a humanistic counsellor. I use a range of skills in my approach in the service of the person I am working with.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

Anxiety can show itself in many different ways for example, such as anxiety attacks, agitation, phobias, shortness of breath. Often people come for psychotherapy when their anxiety gets in the way of them living their life as they would like to and they want relief from their anxiety. Weekly psychotherapy can help soothe anxiety and learn to relate more openly to yourself and others.
Throughout my professional career I have worked with eating disorders, eating and weight issues such as anorexia, binge eating, bulimia and obesity. I provide therapy to support individuals with their eating and weight issues, whatever the issues they bring.
Online counselling and psychotherapy has formed part of my clinical practice throughout my professional career. In addition, historically I undertook specialist training in working online having undertaken a Professional Qualification Certificate in eLearning, Teaching and Training.
Coupled with my original background as a Registered General Nurse, I have provided psychotherapy for those who are terminally ill and wanting end of life therapy. This can include home visits at initial client assessment stage.
