My Approach

As an Integrative Psychotherapist - I combine 3 core theoretical orientations - psychodynamic, relational and humanistic. I have further extensive training in trauma, PTSD, EMDR, domestic violence, elements of CBT, mindfullness, visualisation, relaxation techniques, elements of art /play therapy amongst many one day CPD trainings.

I skilfully combine my training and experience to create a unique model based on each clients' presentation - a carefully constructed ‘toolkit’ with which we can co-create a specific therapy tailored to your personal requirements. I believe that we are all unique individuals and as such, we each need a personalised approach.

I have specialist training in domestic violence, understanding how difficult it is to actually leave, and then to move on, even years after leaving the abusive environment. In previous work I have carried out assessments and facilitated workshops for a domestic violence organisation. I have held clinical group therapy and seen DV clients on a one to one basis for psychotherapy.

I work with men, women and young people across different cultures, communities, races, religions and sexuality. My main languages are English and Punjabi.

On Mondays, I see clients in person in Pimlico, where I have a beautiful therapy room. During the rest of the week I see clients online. I offer a safe and confidential space for you to come and explore present or past experiences that may be causing distress, anxiety, unwanted thoughts, behaviours and emotions.

I offer short term focussed therapy and long term in depth psychotherapy. I work with a wide range of issues including panic attacks, relationships, grief, trauma, PTSD, flashbacks, stress, domestic violence, depression, suicidal thoughts, self harm, cultural identity crisis, work related issues, and many others.

You may get in touch with me via e-mail or phone to arrange an initial session in which we can discuss your needs, and to see if I am the right person to support you through your journey of self exploration.

About Me

I hold a BSc (Hons) in Psychology. My psychotherapy training was at the Metanoia Institute and I have a Masters Degree in Integrative Psychotherapy, and I hold their Diploma of Clinical Practice. I have been practicing for over 25 years.

My psychotherapeutic work experiences have been in the NHS, MIND, Womans Trust (DV), Place 2Be and Oxford University.

Previously, as a community development worker I have worked with community groups offering space to talk, holding workshops for serious health conditions, co-organising health fairs, and other relevant health days and workshops. I have also carried out borough wide research for the NHS.

As a volunteer coordinator, I matched people with volunteer opportunities for work experience that led into either a paid job, or references for a paid job. This was very useful for people out of work with little job experience, new graduates and people coming out of mental health difficulties.

I studied, trained and worked part time while navigating my children's educational and emotional needs and running a household. This required a disciplined and flexible mind frame and endless energy. My experiences have given me a deep understanding of life and the many struggles we can go through to get through.

As with most of us, you may be striving to be the best that you can be, but your circumstances may not be helping you and maybe even hindering you in your daily life. For example, you may be trying hard to create healthy supportive relationships, or supporting ill or elderly loved ones, or thinking about your financial status, employment situation, while also trying to fulfil your own ambitions and dreams, and nothing seems to be going your way. This can become a tangled web that forces us to hide true thoughts and feelings from others and ourselves.

Through therapy we can explore the thoughts, feelings and behaviours that support you in your life and the things that do not work for you, unravelling the tangled threads of your life into a coherent story that you can use to inform your future decisions and plans. Our healing therapeutic professional relationship becomes a model on how you can draw positive relationships towards you in your life outside the therapy space.

Our initial meeting will be to see if we ‘click’ on a personal level, as this is important for the therapeutic relationship to succeed. Together we can explore if you can gain some benefit from working with me; and equally I can share my sense of whether I am the best person to support you at this time, and if not, suggest alternative options.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I have had many older clients in the age ranges of 55 - 80 years old presenting with experiences of failing health, feelings of loss, dread, hopelessness, a loss of a job, retirement, issues with adult children, aimlessness. My clients found it helpful to talk about what they were going through and how they could reinvent themselves and their life to match their current life circumstances.
A bereavement is a uniquely individual experience. We all cope with loss in our own way. The norms of a loss can be managed by many people without the need for therapy. You may need to consider therapy if you find you are not coping well with the loss after a year or so, and it still feels 'new and raw.' Sometimes, we may be grieving a loss we have forgotten about that did not get the healing it needed at the time. As a highly experienced bereavement therapist, I can be with you while you work through this painful journey.
Young black and asian people growing up and going to schools, universities and working in a western culture whilst coming from a collectivist culture may find that this can cause intense stress, anxiety and distress due to the differences that become highlighted - sometimes on a daily basis, including racism. My clients who came with extreme distress found that they were able to move forward in a way that was supportive of them encompassing both cultures in a healthy manner.
I have extensive experience in supporting survivors of domestic violence. Clients may be affected by trauma, PTSD, flashbacks as well as stress, anxiety and depression. They may struggle with establishing and maintaining healthy relationships.
As an EMDR therapist I am able to incorporate this into my clients regular therapy, if and when it may be most useful. My clients have found it very effective around issues that seemed most 'stuck.'
