My Approach

My experience over the years has taught me that it is best to draw on a range of approaches to help families and couples communicate about their vulnerabilities with compassion and sensitivity.

I promote a collaborative and respectful environment which helps families listen and talk together in order to facilitate more understanding of different perspectives. Through increased understanding and compassion a family or couple can work together to begin the process of change.

About Me

I am a senior family and couple systemic psychotherapist who has worked in a variety of NHS settings for over 25 years. I also supervise and teach at the Tavistock and have a growing private practice with families and couples.

I have a special interest in working with couples and with LGBT families and young people and have additional trainings in supervision and mentalzation- based family therapy.

I work with

  • Children and young people
  • Couples
  • Families

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I have twenty years experience of working with couples. This work covers a wide range of difficulties including depression, communication difficulties and the experience of managing after a partner has had an affair.
In systemic psychotherpay we pay attention to the impact of culture and how it shapes many aspects of our emotional life and the way we communicate. In family and couple therapy we explore the impact of different cultural beliefs on things like our parenting values, education and the way emotion is expressed.
I help partners once they have made the difficult decision to separate think together about how to manage this painful process, including how to work on communication in order co parent in children's best interests.
I am lesbian mother with a special interest in working sensitively with diversity and difference.
