COUNSELLING AND PSYCHOTHERAPY SERVICE FOR ADULTS.
Hi, I’m Lynne, welcome to my profile.
I am a fully qualified, accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist with 25 years experience as a psychotherapist, as well as offering supervision, group work and training.
The one certain thing in life is that life changes. I believe that talking about problems and new opportunities can help us all to make better and more fulfilling choices in life. Change can bring difficult feelings, which we then have to manage and communicate. Grief, sadness, anger and hurt can all de-stabilise us and make us lose our way. Sometimes talking through something is enough to provide relief from the pain. Sometimes, action is needed to take us into a better situation, to create a better life.
At other times, we get stuck. Although life moves on around us… it doesn’t feel like we can move with it. By exploring the situation in detail, we can often find how and why we have got paralysed and start to take the steps to begin to move again.
Friends can offer a lot at these times. But, sometimes those same friends are struggling to deal with similar feelings or have too strong an opinion about what will help, or just don’t quite understand. At these times, counselling / psychotherapy can give you the time and attention you need for you to think your own thoughts and to feel your own feelings, without being concerned about how someone else may react.
I’m not here to judge you, or push you in any particular direction. I’m here to listen and understand. Therapy offers a place to rest, a haven, a safe base and then, when you are ready, there will be support to think through what, if anything, you need to do. And, encouragement to act.
If you can get the support that you need to feel, talk, think and act, you can suffer less and enjoy life more - even during the tough times that we all have.
It is important to choose a therapist with whom you feel comfortable and whose areas of expertise fit your needs. Sometimes that can involve talking to a few therapists, so I don’t charge for the initial telephone consultation. We can chat through what you need on the phone and, if you are new to counselling, I can explain what to expect.
Give me a call and let’s see if and how I can help.
