My Approach

As a dual trained psychotherapist, in my work I utilise psychodynamic and systemic approaches.

I work with individuals and couples.

I am person centred and always work with the client to explore and establish a therapeutic way of working that suits the individual.

I offer an initial consultation where we explore what you are looking for & your requirements and goals of therapy.
We make a plan together for your therapy that focuses on your requirements for therapy, & which we regularly review.

I offer therapy sessions for couples who wish to work on areas of their relationship such as difficulties arounds intimacy and sexuality, trust and communication.

I always work with your feedback and regularly review my practice.

About Me

My name is Lucy & I am trained in Systemic/Family Psychotherapy. Art Psychotherapy and EMDR.

In psychotherapy sessions I bring my extensive experience of over 25 years working as a psychotherapist in NHS , Local Government, Charity sector and private practice, to find an approach and way of working that suits you.

My therapeutic practice is influenced by being yoga and mindfulness training and I am interested in the connections in therapy between the body mind and spirit.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I have extensive experience and a special interest in working therapeutically with people who are impacted by adoption and fostering. In therapeutic work I bring my experienced of having worked over several years, with individuals couples and families who are in or have been in the care system, biological parents who do not live with their parents, and foster carers.
I work with individuals, couples and families where there has been a loss and bereavement. Therapeutic work is designed to fit to the individual needs. In bereavement work, common themes focus on expressing and processing difficult emotions, finding coping strategies and adaptation to loss.
In therapeutic work I support clients to explore how cultural identity and background relates to mental health. I aim to create a welcoming and safe environment where clients from diverse backgrounds can feel supported and safe. I am a compassionate therapist and my practice is anti-oppressive.
I work with clients who have been sexually abused. I will support you to process and work through trauma, develop healing, resilience and wellbeing.
I work to support clients who want to explore issues relating to sexuality, for example, questioning sexual orientation and/or gender identity, exploring desire and attraction, and working through sexual traumas. I offer gender affirming therapy.
