My Approach

My approach is psychodynamic. This is a form of therapy where we look at the past to help us understand what is happening in the present. Past experience forms our core beliefs about ourselves and our relationships. Because these beliefs form when we are very young, we may not be aware of them. They may later emerge as relationship patterns that unaccountably seem to repeat, or as recurring feelings, such as anxiety, anger, loneliness or emptiness, that seem to make little sense and may feel overwhelming at times. For this reason psychodynamic therapy can be helpful both where the cause of unhappiness is clear, such as with a difficult relationship or a painful loss, and also where the cause is less obvious.

By working together we can begin to notice and explore things that you might do or think without being aware of them. With increased self-understanding your relationship with the world is more able to become true to yourself. This will allow you the opportunity to develop a more authentic sense of self and to create a more fulfilling connection with yourself and with others.

About Me

I am an accredited psychodynamic psychotherapist. I provide a safe, calm, confidential space in which you can begin to talk about what is troubling you. I am registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and a member of the Foundation for Psychotherapy and Counselling (FPC). I hold a postgraduate diploma in psychodynamic psychotherapy through WPF Therapy, validated by The University of Roehampton and accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I practised for several years within the WPF Therapy clinic both as a student and as an honorary. I currently work in private practice.

I believe the decision to enter therapy is not a quick or easy one. It requires courage to allow oneself to hope for change and, even though you might not be feeling very brave right now, courage has brought you here. If you feel that therapy could be helpful for you, you are welcome to contact me to talk about your situation and to discuss setting up an initial consultation. I will attempt to respond to all enquiries promptly.
