My Approach

I am a Systemic Psychotherapist, sometimes referred to as a Systemic or Family Therapist. It is a strength based, non- blame approach, where ‘The problem is the problem and not the person’ and that problems are embedded in relationships and context and not within people. The approach fits with indivudals, couples, families or larger systems.
My approach is collaborative and dialogical. My practice leans towards Narrative Therapy. I am interested in themes, the language we use, our family scripts and the stories told about us and stories we tell ourselves. I help clients reauthor their stories and challenge the dominant, unhelpful narrative that may be held.
I am also very interested in Attachment Narratives and in my couples work I use Systemic ideas and principles of Emotionally Focused Therapy which is underpinned by attachment.
In family work, I open up the unsaid and different perspectives held, aiding mentalisation and healthier communication.
I use creativity in my practice this may be a sculpt, drawing, video and photography.
