I have over 26 years experience of working with individuals, couples and young people. I aim to work in partnership in a way that helps people to feel safe and talk about their difficulties. I listen carefully so they are able to make sense of their situation, explore available options and enhance their sense of wellbeing. People often seek help when they are feeling distressed and their usual strategies such as seeking support from friends and family do not help to settle how they are feeling. I have worked with people whose difficulties are rooted in their past and others who seek help to overcome recent and ongoing stressful life events. Sometimes their problems can be less obvious such as experiencing unpleasant feelings that cannot be described, and others who have a vague sense that 'something is wrong', either with themselves or their relationships. I am respectful of all people and their relationships and I have worked with people from a diverse range of backgrounds.
