My Approach

I am a psychotherapist experienced working with individuals and with groups. I work in central London and online.

My philosophy around therapeutic work is a holistic one, which considers expressions of consciousness at levels of mind, body and spirit, to all require attention in order to process psychological issues. My work is informed by psychoanalytic principals, especially Jungian perspectives. I am trained as a Transpersonal/Integrative psychotherapist, which integrates perspectives on consciousness into the work.

Western culture tends to operate in quite a transactional way. The medical model is a good example, where a patient goes to the doctor with symptoms and then expects a prescription of some kind. Some therapy disciplines have been influenced toward this model, and bring a similar issue-resolution mindset. Others, appreciate that the symptom needs to be resolved, but that it might be appearing to alert us to a misconfiguration in our life. Working from this perspective invites the holistic resolution of the symptom, rather than pushing it back into the unconscious. This approach leads to:
* A deeper understanding of one’s purpose in life, and the freeing up of energy to engage purposefully.
* A more clear “sense of self”, which is determined by intrinsic factors, rather than adaptations to cultural, familial and social context.
* Better regulation of emotional states. Difficult states such as anxiety and depression are less frequent and when they do occur, they dissipate more readily.
* Freedom from patterns of behaviour that have been repeating. These might include unsatisfying relationships, addictive behaviours and processes, failures of confidence, bouts of meaninglessness.

About Me

I am a trained, qualified and accredited psychotherapist. I am also experienced working with groups. I have seen clients in a clinical setting since 2009 and have worked with a wide variety of presenting issues. My clinical experience has been gained in part in NHS settings and in charity contexts, though largely in private practice. Since 2019, I have been involved in teaching psychotherapy students as part of formal training programmes, and also as a clinical supervisor.

My psychotherapy research journey began with a Masters dissertation looking at a psychospiritual emergence through the transformation of developmental shame. Through that process and ongoing professional development and further training, I've continued to develop around areas such as developmental psychology, analytical psychology, psychoanalysis, and various trauma-informed models. I am interested in contemporary sociological issues including, equality, difference, intergenerational trauma and ecopsychology and the artificial separation of psyche and nature.

My rate is offered on a sliding scale, depending on your means and the time of day. This allows me to see clients in my practice who may otherwise not be able to pay my fee. The initial session costs £95. The ongoing rate would be between £70 and £150 per session and would be discussed during our initial meetings.
