I am a psychotherapist and CBT therapist with eight years experience working both privately and in statutory settings. In addition to my independent work for Health in Mind, I spend most of my week delivering brief psychological therapy for the NHS in a variety of GP surgeries in South Birmingham.
Through my work in the NHS I have helped individuals recover from a wide range of problems including depression, anxiety, stress, loss and bereavement, panic, trauma, OCD, eating disorders and identity issues. With experience in several different psychological approaches, I tailor my approach to the client’s individual needs.
I began my career in Mental Health by volunteering for a south Warwickshire helpline before moving into paid employment at a hostel in Coventry. I worked there for two years supporting refugees and individuals with severe mental health difficulties whilst completing my counselling training. Alongside this I worked for several charities including Cotswold Counselling Service and the Coventry Refugee Centre.
In a previous career I trained to be a University lecturer in English at the University of Warwick before making a positive move into arts education and project work with the Royal Shakespeare Company.
As well as being UKCP registered I am also a member of the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy (BABCP) and the Institute of Transactional Analysis. I abide by their respective codes of ethics and am subject to their complaints procedures.
