I am the founder of both the EmotionMatters and WeightMatters Practices, and have over 25 years’ experience of working with clients. I specialise in all areas of mental health including depression, anxiety, work stress and low self-worth, and issues related to weight, health, eating and the body. I am passionate about my work as a TA psychotherapist, and the integrative way I support people with their mental and physical health.
I have genuine empathy for people who struggle with their identity, negative core beliefs and their experience of living in their body, while at the same time offering a curiosity to understand how all aspects of mental health may be contributing to unhelpful and stuck patterns of thinking, feeling and behaviour. Working with depression, health, stress and anxiety often includes practical ways of challenging habits, deeper work to explore low self-worth, finding new ways to experience and soothe feelings, and understanding what patterns are keeping you stuck in relationships. Therapy is always tailored to your specific needs and goals.
I am the Clinical Director at EmotionMatters and WeightMatters, and oversee the work of 20+ psychotherapists, a dietician, nutritional therapist and psychiatrist, and how they support clients in changing their relationship with themselves, their body, and with others. I am an informed speaker and educator, and enjoy running workshops and groups to support the education of both clients and therapists.
My current avenues of interest include exploring how neuroscience research can inform psychotherapy, effective short-term depression treatment, exploring psychiatric nutrition, finding balance with the gut-brain axis, how brain structure may reinforce food addiction, and working with relational trauma, eating patterns and the body.
I look forward to meeting you, and hearing about your story. At the practice, we offer a free 30-minute session for clients interested in starting therapy. Please get in touch, and one of the team will contact you to arrange this.
