My approach is warm and intuitive. I work within a profound process - fine-tuned to the needs of each individual person - with what I call 'whole-being awareness' to explore 'deep being' in the context of 'feet-on-the-ground' spirtuality on the soul's journey. (Formal description: Transpersonal psychotherapy.)
Engaging in the process of therapy may be considered a genuine investment in true quality of life. Your therapy with me will be fine-tuned by my awareness of your being and your needs. If what you bring to therapy is uncomplicated and not deep rooted, then this is counselling - for which there is an abundance of counsellors for this work. Psychotherapy itself is deep process work, useful for the exploration of complex deep-rooted inner difficulties. Transpersonal psychotherapy is designed to explore and guide deeply soulful personal journeys in the context of firmly-grounded spirituality. So, given all the above, I choose to exclusively offer the process of psychospiritual psychotherapy to those ready to engage in such potentially immeasureably rewarding work.
The core of such work is our relationship with our own self...and extending to the exploration of how we relate to others in our world. In this context, my specialisms include... profound whole-being awareness and down-to-earth spirituality - guided strongly by intuition as well as by my long experience of mindfulness and meditation (strongly rooted in ancient tradition); self-assertiveness and self-esteem - as in the honouring of whatever feels deeply/intuitively healthy for you yourself; genuine relational intimacy - with self and others; sense of self and identity issues - including learning to recognise and warmly befriend your authentic self...beyond any role or expectations of others, through to your sense of gender identity (and any gender dysphoria); existential and attachment issues such as aging, terminal illness, dying and death - whatever this may mean to you; material attachment and loss of all kinds; mental health (eg: anxiety and depression, dissociation, borderline personality disorder, post-episode psychosis...); and now also climate crisis/emergency anxiety and existential crisis.
I work differently with every person, as every person is different. And, while identifying what is likely to work most effectively for the individiual, I'm always guided by my intuition and sense of the other person's being.
Having read up to this line, if you would like to take the next step, then you're welcome to contact me to ask me about therapy and/or to arrange your initial session (via phone or email).
I'm now in the 'wise elder' stage of life - a life guided by a warmly playful meditative attitude and life-long process of deep inner exploration (with its beginnings in early childhood).
As a transpersonal psychotherapist with a long-established private practice of nearly 20 years, my professional background also includes painting (my initial professional training being in fine art) - initially landscapes & portraits, before becoming entirely 'transpersonal' as in intuitively-guided, expressing profound experiencing; special needs education...as teaching assistant; senior nursing assistant in adult psychiatric care, and deputy of a day centre for the elderly with psychiatrically-diagnoised conditions. Meanwhile, my personal journey includes all kinds of creative expression (painting, singing, writing), plus meditation practice (established in the late 1980s) guiding a life-changing meditative attitude and way of being.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
