My Approach

I am an Integrative Humanistic psychotherapist with Transactional Analysis (TA) as my core modality. Integrative psychotherapy is about supporting a person in integrating conflicting, unacknowledged, and unknown parts of themselves which limit their life, in releasing their spontaneity, and the natural life force supporting us to live and engage fully with all that life brings. I am existentially minded, considering life challenges as the way our common human concerns are manifesting for each one of us in different ways at different life stages. I also work psychodynamically making links between the past and the present and I bring this analytic approach to my individual and relationship/couple therapy. I subscribe to GSRD and I am a sex-positive therapist.
I am direct and open and use the here-and-now relationship in my work. I bring a number of theories and techniques to the service of the client including a range of creative media but I see the most impactful therapeutic tool as being the therapeutic relationship.
This is a unique relationship offering the client the opportunity to experience full and unconditional confirmation for who they are and a secure base from which to examine and explore their experiences of themselves, relationships and life. I work with Aviva, WPA and AXA.

About Me

I am originally from Greece and have been living in the UK for over 20 years. I have over 10 years of experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist, working with individuals and couples on a range of issues. My key areas of interest and experience are relationship issues, self-esteem, identity, belonging, and self-actualisation, connection to the body and mid-life transitions. I am also a yoga-informed practitioner and qualified yoga instructor and I naturally integrate breath, mindfulness and movement in my practice when suitable, following the needs and desires of the client. I am bilingual and practice in both English and Greek. I also have experience in running therapy groups. I work with relationships/couples on a variety of issues including understanding and managing conflict, improving communication, managing separations, sexual issues and life transitions. I offer both online and in person sessions.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I have experience not least my own, of working with people living in different settings than the ones they grew up in, or their original family comes from, to understand and create an integration of the parts of themselves and choicefully find congruent ways of being that include their intersections.
I have worked with individuals who have been in abusive or coercive relationships regain their sense of self, work through the feelings and traumas associated with these experiences , find safety and make healthy choices for their lives.
People often find themselves lost and uncertain about who they are and how they want to live. This is particularly pervasive in mid-life or after a significant event or it may be a life-long issue. I support clients in owning and understanding their story including their ancestry and clarigying their values and influences so that they can take control of their narrative and lead fulfilling lives grounded in a strong sense of self.
I am passionate in my work with couples of all orientations and relationships. I have succesfully worked with a number of couples and helped them reconnect, speak their truth, improve how they communicate, find themselves and the other again, or even decide that it is the end of the road for them, and to do so with integrity and respect for each other and the relationship. Every couple and every relationship is unique; I provide a holding and safe environment to experiment, to be vulnerable and to be with each other whilst facilitating enriching dialogues and helping couples towards their goals.
Stress is a common presenting issue that can arise from a variety of circumstances and manifest differently for each person in different times in their life. A healthy level of stress can be helpful, it is when a person is unable to deal with stresses in their life because of their past experiences or the level of stress. Using mindfulness, breathing, reality testing, understanding distorted thinking and unhelpful coping strategies, I support individuals in feeling in control of their lives.
