I'm a systemically trained therapist and counsellor which means I work conversationally and collaboratively with people to explore fresh ways of seeing and moving forward.
More about my approach below and at The Pink Practice website
I’m a qualified systemic therapist and supervisor with over 25 years experience of working with individuals, families, households, kinship networks and workplaces.
The style of therapy and supervision I offer is collaborative and conversational. It is important to feel enough to explore power relations, cultural, heteronormative, neurotypical bias that clients and therapists experience in the world and in therapy.
I have experience of working with individuals, couples and families and with most groups or people and have particular experience and interest in:
- Lesbian, gay, trans, bisexual and queer people and their relationships.
- Adults and young people who are as autistic or neuro atypical and their families.
- People from Black, Asian and ethnic minority communities.
- New and re-forming families.
I see the role of the counsellor as helping people coming for therapy to appreciate what they have been through or are dealing with, and make a new sense of their struggles which move away from narratives of personal failure and mental ill health.
Therapy can help people overcome the effect of difficult experiences, challenge dominant narratives, and confront the structural oppression that people encounter in their everyday lives. Successful outcome of therapy might not only result in people feeling better but in seeing themselves as proud pioneers in their communities.
I understand supervision as a place for therapists and counsellors to critically and appreciatively reflect on the work they do with people while getting support for their work to be sustainable and maintain their own wellbeing.
Team supervision is also something I enjoy.
If you are interested in discussing supervision with me, contact me and we can arrange to speak and see if we both feel there is enough common ground. (ONLINE).
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
