I am an Integrative Psychotherapist, Primary Healthcare Counsellor and Clinical Supervisor.
I support clients privately, in organisations and in the community. I offer both short term counselling (to work on a specific, or current, worry, difficulty or distress) and long term psychotherapy to explore deeper, underlying issues that combine in making us who we are, and shape our personal values and beliefs. In each capacity, I work to increase awareness and understanding of the self (developmentally) and of the self in relation to other(s) (relationally). I believe that often what brings us into therapy is largely relational, either with self or with other, i.e. intra-personal or inter-personal. By considering our way of "being in the world", we are able to increase choice, responsiveness, efficacy and determine individual (other or collective) responsibility.
If you are age 18+ I invite you to speak to me, in confidence, about whatever might be contributing to your emotional distress at this time. Get in touch if you have had counselling within the NHS IAPT (increasing Access to Psychological Therapy) provision and want to do some further work. Contact me if you are an 'older' adult impacted by change or transition, for example, loss, health, retirement, redundancy.
Exploring our difficulties, our questions or uncertainties enables us to make sense of our experiences - all of them. Self-reflection and self-awareness increases capacity to 'know' one's self, to be compassionate to self, to allow self-needs to be expressed, to be heard and validated and for those needs to be 'met' through the development of deeper and more satisfying relationships. The process fosters growth through understanding - helping us to move forward with our lives.
