About Me

I am an Integrative Psychotherapist. I work young people and adults. One of the key things that I try to demonstrate to a person is their own ability to survive and be empowered; by increasing awareness of their own resources. I hope to have a genuine engagement with my clients so that individuals may feel more able to accept the parts of themselves that they find unacceptable. I work long and short term with clients, depending on what issues are presented, the requests of the client and what is safe for them. I incorporate CBT, Mindfulness, SFBT and other creative approaches in to my work.

People often approach a therapist because they feel that there is a problem that they are facing in their lives, in their relationship’s, or within themselves. It is not unusual to find that an individual holds many beliefs and ideas around who they think they are and how they feel they should be living their lives. These beliefs and ideas are often limiting and viewed as unacceptable, leading a person to a place of distress. Whatever the reason is for the distress, the ultimate aim must be to enable a person to feel better equipped to deal with life events and gain a greater sense of self awareness. The focus is not necessarily about “fixing” and “getting rid of” something. It is about being able to see the bigger picture of who we are and how we can build a different kind of relationship with ourselves, others and the world around us. In this way the distress can start to fall away, instead of being fought against.

Honesty and trust are very important ingredients in a therapeutic relationship. I attempt to live in a mutually inclusive relationship with clients; one that is not just thought about, but also shared. I endeavor to take more relational risks within the therapy, all the while trying to accept my own fallibility. We are after all two human beings in a room; both therapist and client need to be fully present and willing to be open in order to have a respectful relationship.
