I trained as both an integrative and psychoanalytic psychotherapist. I have over thirty years experience in counselling & psychotherapy. For the past sixteen years I have been the director of Canterbury Counselling & Psychotherapy Centre and have undertaken all initial assessments.
I have a Doctorate and an M.A. in Psychotherapy and over 25,000 clinical hours of experience with individual clients.
I hope this experience has equipped me to take new clients through their issues with respect and empathy. Should you attend a first assessment with me I hope you will leave knowing something/s about yourself that you did not recognise before. I do attempt to explain to clients at our first meeting why the feelings they are experiencing may have occurred; to provide some insight into how they came to such a point in their lives.
I frequently work long term with clients and have a special interest in dream work. However, I also use EMDR techniques to quickly relieve symptoms such as anxiety and panic attacks-we can the undertake the long term work later-if you still want to.
