My Approach

People seek psychotherapy because they might be worried about something, they might feel upset, distressed, feeling that something has gone wrong in their life, feeling stuck or have lost meaning in life. They look for someone to share their problems with, and talking to a psychotherapist can be helpful; someone who is trained to listen, to think in a sensitive way and to help finding other ways to deal with those problems.

I offer a safe environment, a confidential and secure space that will enable us to build a therapeutic relationship through regular meetings. This brings the opportunity to talk through issues and concerns openly, identifying difficulties that stop you from living your life to its full potential, beginning to explore the roots of the problems and gaining a new perspective in life.

What is Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy?

Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy aims to help understand and resolve problems by increasing awareness of the underlying meaning of symptoms and behaviour, and the influence that it might have over past and present relationships. This enables us to find new perspectives and to improve well-being and the quality of our lives.

Psychotherapy provides a non-judgemental and confidential space where you will explore your inner world and identify unconscious patterns, becoming conscious of them, understanding them and changing them within the dynamic of the therapeutic relationship.

About Me

I trained and qualified as a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist with the Association for Group and Individual Psychotherapy (AGIP). I am a UKCP-accredited psychoanalytic psychotherapist in private practice, with an academic background in psychology.

I have been working in the field of mental health for over 18 years, and have worked with a wide range of client groups from a diverse set of backgrounds. Before setting up my private practice, I worked as a therapist and manager for a non-profitable organisation that provides therapeutic communities and psychotherapy for people experiencing mental health difficulties. I have also worked as a consultant facilitating weekly staff support groups.

I have taught courses for a postgraduate training in psychotherapy accredited by Middlesex University. I have conducted staff groups and training days for multi-professional teams, and have run workshops on therapeutic communities organised by the Royal College of Psychiatrists' Centre for Quality Improvement.

I have experience in working with stress, anxiety, depression, psychosomatic symptoms, panic attacks, feelings of low self-esteem, physical and emotional abuse, bereavement, trauma, addictive patterns, relationship problems, eating disorders, and those who are struggling with a lack of purpose and meaning in their lives.
