My Approach

I practice from the understanding that the human encounter, because it is at the root of psychopathology, needs to be at the heart of psychotherapy too. My aim is to provide a relational environment where it is possible to experience psychic repair. My technique is at the crossroads of psychodynamic psychotherapy, and the Laingian and Jungian approaches.

About Me

I am a psychotherapist and a counsellor in Central London, working with individuals and couples.

I have been practising privately for the past 18 years. During this time, I also served as a mental health worker and team manager in the third sector, and supervisor and service lead in the NHS.

I work with

  • Couples
  • Groups
  • Individuals
  • Private healthcare referrals

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I work with patients who seek support to process experiences of abuse (physical, sexual) in childhood. I am able to work sensitively with traumatic memories of such experiences and to help the patient develop an appropriate stance in respect of them.
It is the one of the most prevalent of mental health problems and the one thing that, once experienced too intensely, too often and in inappropriate situations, will drive many to seek help. I find that the containing environment offered by the therapeutic hour goes some way to helping managing anxiety, and am also aware that working on the roots of the unconscious issues that trigger anxiety is required to effect lasting change.
A foreign national and bilingual professional, I also lead the Multilingual Psychotherapy Centre and have long experience of issues around identity and culture. I have recently published a paper in a collection of essays on that theme.
All the people who have come to seek help over the years have suffered from depression in one shape or another. Depression can be a response to an event or a series of events (and in that case, concentrating on it in therapy appears to be a priority). It can also occur without obvious triggers. In that case, the cause will be unconscious and require a therapy that allows free exploration of all aspects of an individual's life.
From experience, I think that we seek relationships with people who will challenge us at our core and possibly help us grow in ways that we cannot yet imagine. Every relationship will be an opportunity to repeat and work through essential aspects of our person. Helping a patient seize this opportunity is at the heart of my work.
