I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist working with adults individually or in small groups.
So what does psychodynamic mean? Well, if you think of your mind as being like an iceberg with one-eighth above the waterline and seven-eighths below, the one-eighth is your conscious mind that is aware you're reading this, for example, and the seven-eighths is your unconscious mind.
The unconscious contains feelings, thoughts and ways of relating which you may not know about but which influence greatly how you behave. As a psychodynamic therapist I work with both the conscious and unconscious to help you understand and resolve problems and also to help you grow and reach your potential. I do this either working one-to-one or in small therapy groups.
You may have an idea of what one-to-one work would be like but you may not know that joining a therapy group can be an enjoyable, enriching and powerful way of changing and developing as a person. Definitely worth investigating.
Please note that for reasons of patient safety I keep an eye on the ebbs and flows of Covid. There may be times, therefore, when therapy happens online rather than in person.
I offer a friendly, safe and confidential setting in which to explore issues which may be causing you difficulties.
I have considerable professional experience in mental health, having worked in the NHS or in private practice for over twenty years. During that time I have helped people from a wide range of ages and backgrounds and with a wide range of emotional difficulties.
I am one of very few trained and qualified group psychotherapists in private practice in the whole of Surrey. I also offer one-to-one therapy.
I have completed UKCP Covid-19 Online Working Guidance.
