I am a UKCP registered psychotherapist and I offer long and short-term psychotherapy to individuals, couples and groups. I also facilitate experiential psychodrama psychotherapy workshops in and around Bristol.
I value creativity and authenticity as the nourishment that enriches people's experience of life. My aim as a psychotherapist is to be alongside my clients as they explore difficulties in their lives, get to know themselves, and find new ways of responding to difficult situations. I stay with my clients during their journey, in an empathetic and non-judgemental, way, helping them to realise their full potential. At the heart of my practice is the relationship with the client, which has a huge therapeutic potential. I aim to provide a holding and containing environment where a profound exploration can take place.
Clients are welcome to come for a first assessment, free of charge, to discuss what concerns bring them to therapy and how we might work together. They are then free to decide if they wish to proceed with therapy.
My approach is psychodynamic and integrative and I also utilise a creative approach to support clients in their explorations, if it feels right for them.
This creative method is an application of psychodrama techniques to 1:1 settings. This encourages the expression of something that words alone can't always provide. It aims at finding ways to define, and make sense of, those emotions that we struggle to understand and express verbally. It offers a way to bring to the surface the emotions and experiences that are sometimes forgotten, but are still stored in the mind and body, and are affecting our present lives. Using creativity in the session is always negotiated with the client as it is not something that is right for all people and therefore there is always the option not to work in this way.
I trained in Psychodrama Psychotherapy at the London Centre for Psychodrama. I do regular additional training to deepen my knowledge and gain insight on different ways to work.
I have experience in a range of areas, including antenatal and postnatal difficulties, addiction, anxiety, depression, working with trauma, feeling stuck and directionless, and working with young people. I also offer workshops and short term groups for mums and dads to be, helping them to mark the transition to becoming a parent, and meet the challenges of these new roles.
