My Approach

As an Integrative Humanistic Psychotherapist, I draw on a range of theories and methods to facilitate each client's development in body-mind and and I have interest in how past experiences shape the perception, attitude and behaviour in "here and now" the present and how this experiences emotional pain and wounds impact the body( somatic). I am warm and empathic and non-judgmental and work with a wide range of presenting issues, both short and long term, to meet the individual needs of each client.
I have practised in a range of settings, including a GP surgery and charities((Mind) , mental health mentor with students in the North east Universities(Newcastle, Sunderland, Northumbria , Durham) EAP (Employers Assistance Program)and private practice.
I hold a BA and MPhil in honours degrees, a Post Graduate Diploma, a Diploma in Psychotherapy, Psychotherapeutic Counselling, Certificate in Supervision, NVQ4 learning disabilities and Autism. I am working towards a Diploma in EMDER and Polyvagal skills and supervision group.

Choosing a counsellor or therapist is a big decision and it is important to feel that the person you choose is right for you.
I offer a relaxed, non-judgmental, compassion, safe and confidential therapeutic space in which we can explore issues that may be troubling you in a caring and supportive way.
I am passionate about your narrative and want to fully understand what brings you to therapy. In this therapeutic journey, you can be sure that someone is really listening to you, engaging with you and progressing at a pace that is comfortable for you. With understanding and encouragement to be who you are, we will chart a course that will help achieve your individual needs and goals.

I believe the therapeutic relationship between therapist/ counsellor and client is the centre of a healing experience.

I am a qualified Psychotherapist and counsellor who worked with a wide range of issues including stress, depression, anxiety bereavement, loss, relationship difficulties, sexual abuse, and trauma. I currently work with diverse groups including, LBGTQ, disabled members of the public, in a variety of social and cultural.
I have work experience in NHS Primary Care and Mind mental health charity, Talk Works, Mental Health Mentor with students in Tyne & Wear Universities and have a private practice providing short, medium and long-term therapy.
I am a registered member of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
I work in accordance with their ethical principles and codes of professional conduct. I also hold an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate. As an accredited member of the UKCP and a member of the Northern Guild for Counselling and Psychotherapy, all my work is supervised.

As a therapeutic counsellor and integrative psychotherapist, I combine a number of therapeutic models to provide a bespoke response to your needs (using many different theories and methods, depending on which will be most beneficial to you at this time). Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Existential therapy, Gestalt therapy, Humanistic therapies, Person-centred therapy, Play therapy,Psychodynamic therapy, Solution-focused brief therapy, Transactional analysis, Phenomenology therapy ('here and now', body-mind).
I offer evening, weekend and daytime appointments. I work in Newcastle City Centre, Wallsend.
