I provide psychotherapy and counseling for individuals on a short term and long term basis. The method I work in is called psychodynamic. It is based on an idea that how you think and behave is not only linked to the present but also to your past. You may be feeling low because of a concrete distressing event, for example difficulties in or a break up of a relationship, problems at work, sexual issues, bereavement, or any other personal problems. Sometimes there isn’t any particular trigger you can name, it may just be that life has lost its meaning. You might be feeling depressed, suffer from self-doubts, have problems with addiction, you might be questioning your sexuality, your identity, or you might feel stuck and unable to move on. At such times it may be helpful to talk to someone who is not intimately connected to you or to others in your life and who will accept you and not make any judgements. These are the times you may benefit from ‘talking therapy’. Together we will try to make sense of your experiences, for example why you find that you repeat similar patterns and why shifting these seems so difficult. Understanding better yourself may lead to being able to bring greater choice and control to your life. You might discover new, more effective ways to deal with your life's issues and relationships.

I believe that it is important to create a sense of partnership with my clients that relies on trust and equality and that this in itself can foster a sense of agency and reparation.
I also provide therapy at a reduced fee for psychotherapy trainees.
