My Approach

Psychodynamic: once weekly therapy sessions either on line or face to face/in person
It is often daunting to make contact with a counsellor but why don`t you pick up the phone or send me a text?
I offer a free (10-15min) tel call when you can talk to me about the way I work and any other questions you might have about the type of counselling I offer
If after that you think you might like to go ahead I will offer you a 50 min consultation session (£50) at my rooms. This is so you can meet me in person and I can ask you a few more questions about why you are seeking counselling at this time
It is often the case that if you feel you can "get on" with the counsellor and feel comfortable to talk, this is one of the most important criteria for successful therapy. So that is why it`s important for you and I to meet in the first instance
After the consultation if we both think that some sessions would be useful we would confirm the date and time and cost at that point

About Me

When you`re worried, anxious or down, it can be just at those times when it feels so difficult to reach out and ask for help. Talking regularly in a confidential setting with a qualified therapist might just be of value to you

Regular once weekly sessions with a counsellor offers you a chance to talk through your worries; think about where you are right now; find out more about yourself and, over time, give you more choices about your future

My name is Alison Dale. I am a fully qualified and accredited psychodynamic psychotherapist, registered with the UKCP and the BPC (British Psychoanalytical Council)

I work both in London (SW17 on line only) and also in Mudeford, Dorset which is my main private practice (BH23 4BW)

I offer once weekly face to face AND online psychotherapy sessions for adults who are looking for help with emotional and psychological problems
The regular weekly sessions at the same time and day of the week will give you time and space to talk about your present difficulties and past experiences. Often we find that past experiences sometimes follow us into the present and make it difficult for us to feel happy in our lives in the present day. We can`t change the past but we can, overtime explore and hopefully come to terms with it, so that we can leave it behind and move on
With my help hopefully you will find different options to deal with your current difficulties eg with family; relationships; your feelings about yourself (self esteem/shame/feelings about your body etc); your purpose; your fears and dilemmas ........

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

In my previous career, I worked for some years in the addiction field (drugs and alcohol)
Having suffered from anxiety during my childhood and beyond to reaching a point where I understood the reasons for this has helped me in my life. I can bring my own personal experience to my work with my clients today
I have a special interest in boarding school which may in some cases lead to depression and anxiety and identity issues in later life
