My Approach

I work using the Gestalt approach. As a gestalt therapist I will help you to explore the different aspects of your life and how they relate to one another. Some people have a clear idea about what their difficulties are whilst others are unsure about why they are feeling the way they do. I see my role as one of helping the individual gain more awareness of who they are and how they relate to the world and others around them.

Like many therapists I work in a non-judgemental way and view therapy as a joint endeavour to help people live their lives more fully.

About Me

Alayne Jackson MSc Gestalt Psychotherapy, PG Dip Dance Movement Therapy, Dip Integrative Supervision

I am an experienced psychotherapist working in both a busy general hospital and in private practice. As an NHS psychotherapist I have a special interest in the way illness or accidents can affect people's lives.

I have seen people from many walks of life with a wide range of difficulties, however, I am specialised in working with issues related to: cancer, (particularly breast cancer), MS, bereavement and loss, pregnancy and infertility, trauma and post traumatic stress, chronic pain, disability and abuse.

I originally trained as a contemporary dancer and then a dance movement therapist. I am interested in creativity plus how experience is manifested and expressed through our bodies.

The Initial Meeting

This is a chance for you to meet with me and for me to hear about what is happening for you and why you are seeking therapy. It is a chance for us to see whether I am the right therapist for you and for you to get a feel for how I work. You can ask questions and we will think about whether long term or short term therapy is suitable.
My private practice takes place at my home on a Monday, either in person or online.

I also hold a diploma in Integrative Supervision

I am the cancer lead in a health psychological therapy service within the NHS. I am experienced in providing psychotherapy to people at all points in the cancer pathway, including those at hereditory risk. I also provide supervision and training to cancer professionals. My approach is to view every person's experience of cancer as unique to them .
