About Me

My Experience

I have 30 years experience of working in the fields of psychotherapy and counselling, with extensive experience in working with clients from many different cultures on a wide range of psychological and mental health issues. My services are available to all adults aged 18 or above. I see clients from all over the world making good use of my background and training in cross-cultural psychotherapy and counselling. I provide sessions in either English or Japanese.

I have published many academic and professional papers in my specialist field as well as newspaper articles for a general readership. I also offer workshops, training and public speaking, and have given talks on the broadcast media about mental health and psychological issues.

I have a lot of experience in helping with depression, anxiety and relationship issues. I have worked in universities, Intercultural Therapy Centres, primary care and private practice over 30 years.

How I work

I am very down to earth and you will find me easy to talk to, as I offer a supportive and non-judgemental environment, making you feel safe to talk about the issues you bring to my consulting room. The qualities I bring to the session are my humanity, humour and sense-of-self. Of course, we discuss serious issues in the sessions and I am attentive to you showing empathy. It is also important to take these aspects to make psychotherapy and counselling fun exchanging our energy and creativity, which is a necessary process for change. I also use dream, image work, visualisation and drawings.

My approach focuses on helping you feel heard and understood so that you can experience acceptance and healing. This will equip you with the tools to deal more effectively with recurring issues and cope with any new ones developing more resilience.

I strongly believe that your difficulties can be an opportunity for you to change and grow, and your hardships can be used as a positive force for change. I aim to help you through the use of psychological knowledge to alleviate your problems and explore the issues which affect your daily life.

My venue

The venue is 10-15 minutes walk from Ealing Broadway Station and there are also frequent bus services from the Station. There are off street parking spaces available in my practice.
