Many reasons bring people to therapy – current difficulties, long-standing patterns, the wish to reflect, or the sense that something needs to shift. Clients often arrive quietly burned out, navigating the aftermath of an affair or divorce, reckoning with a midlife or career transition, adjusting as an expat or cross-cultural partner, or sitting with menopause, grief or a loss of meaning.
My approach is relational and depth-oriented. The relationship between us is central to the work, not a backdrop for it. I balance emotional safety with honest challenge, working at a pace that suits you. Some clients come for focused, shorter-term work around burnout, a specific relationship rupture, or a life transition; others stay longer to work with patterns that have deeper roots.
I work integratively, drawing on psychodynamic, attachment-based, trauma- and neurobiology-informed approaches, and Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT) where relevant. Sessions are in English and German (Deutsch-sprachige Psychotherapie).
I am an accredited Integrative Relational Psychotherapist & Counsellor (BACP, UKCP) with over 10 years of experience, working with individuals and couples online across the UK and in person in Wimbledon (SW19/SW20) and Wimpole Street (Marylebone, W1). Sessions in English and German (Deutsch-sprachige Psychotherapie).
I specialise in burnout, anxiety, relationship difficulties (including the aftermath of affairs, separation and divorce), midlife and identity transitions, and cross-cultural and expat experience. Many of my clients are high-functioning professionals, expats, cross-cultural couples, and Deutsch-sprachige clients living in the UK, across Europe and internationally.
People often come with burnout, chronic stress, anxiety, low mood and depression, relationship difficulties, affairs and infidelity, separation and divorce, midlife crisis, menopause, grief and loss, career change, retirement, parenthood, expat adjustment, identity questions, and the quieter experiences of emptiness, numbness or feeling stuck.
I draw on psychodynamic, attachment-based, trauma- and neurobiology-informed approaches, shaped by 10+ years across private practice, the NHS, corporates and academia. I work with referrals from major PMI insurers including AXA Health, Vitality, Aviva, Allianz, WPA and Bupa. I also practise as an executive coach and am a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Roehampton. Find out more at www.veronikakloucek.com.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
