My focus as a systemic psychotherapist is to build a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship from which to explore your experiences in your important relationships. My focus is on strengths and working collaboratively with you. I will seek to listen and to ask questions with the aim of opening possibilities in your relationships and throughout your life.
I am keen to work with all people, whether you need space to explore how you can negotiate challenges in your relationships or to move through life transitions.
I work with couples and families with an emphasis on shifting away from seeing the problem as located in one person and to instead bring curiosity about the context, relationships and influence of beliefs and values on the difficulty.
When I work with individuals, I hold space for thinking about how our social environment contributes to how we perceive and experience our lives. I am committed to practicing in a culturally-sensitive and non-judgemental manner, inviting us to consider together the impact of wider social and political power structures and how they impact on our lives and relationships.
How to work with me
My process for taking on new clients is to begin with a 20-minute phone call where we can discuss the difficulties you are seeking help with, my approaches to therapy, and whether I am the right psychotherapist for you.
I aim to work with you to create a space that is safe, honest and purposeful.
Currently I am working online via MS Teams
I am committed to holding a culturally sensitive approach and I believe deeply in the value of exploring the context of our difficulties with care and compassion. Throughout my life, I have been interested in how our context and various identities influence and interact in our relationships and how these impact how we experience the world.
In the NHS I have worked in the Child and Adolescent mental health service (CAMHS) and also in an adult family therapy clinic. I have worked for ten years in parenting, supporting parents to develop strong and meaningful relationships with their children.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
