For me, the relationship between therapist and client can be an essential vehicle for growth and change. My approach draws on Gestalt and Psychodynamic theories. From early childhood we develop ways of being so that we can manage in our environment. Sometimes in adulthood, maybe without us being aware, these same coping strategies hold us back - affecting our relationships, work, behaviour or lifestyle. I can work with you using our relationship and the skills from my training and experience to understand the challenges you face, perhaps looking at alternative perspectives, to discover new resources to support you in making changes to enable you to thrive.
I work online using Zoom or in person in Shrewsbury town centre.
My approach combines Gestalt therapy (focusing on the here-and-now of your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours) with psychodynamic therapy (exploring how your history and relationships influence the present). Sometimes (if you are on board with it) we may use creative techniques and exercises to facilitate work at a deeper level.
Together we can:
build awareness of your current experiences,
uncover underlying patterns from earlier life, and
create new ways of relating to yourself and others.
My style is warm, curious, and down-to-earth. I aim to meet you where you are, at your pace, with empathy and respect.
Warm, compassionate therapy for adults in Shrewsbury or online.
If you are finding something challenging right now or if something from your past is disturbing your peace of mind, therapy could help. It's important to feel seen and heard and to understand our own behavioural and emotional patterns. Sometimes we reach a point where the ways we’ve coped no longer serve us. I offer a safe, supportive space to explore what’s happening in your life right now, while also understanding how past experiences may still be shaping you today.
What I can help with
I work with adults experiencing:
anxiety and stress
low mood or depression
relationship and family difficulties
trauma and abuse
grief, loss, or life transitions
identity and self-esteem issues
Whether you’re seeking short-term therapy for a specific challenge, or longer-term therapy for deeper exploration, we’ll tailor the work to your needs.
What to expect
Our first session (50 minutes) is a chance for you to share what brings you to therapy and to ask any questions. If we feel it’s a good fit, we’ll usually meet weekly at a regular time. Sessions can be in person at my practice in Shrewsbury, or online therapy via video if that suits you better.
