I provide a warm, safe and engaging setting for you to explore and resolve any issue that is affecting you. I usually work longer term, but I have a great deal of experience working short term in a variety of settings. My approach focuses on the therapeutic relationship drawing on my training in Psychodynamic work and Compassion Focused Therapy. Compassion Focused Therapy developed in part from CBT and draws on Buddhist concepts. It is an evidence-based model that offers practical approaches to dealing with many issues particularly shame and a negative self image.
I provide long or short term therapy in central Cambridge. I have worked as a therapist for nearly 20 years.
As well as seeing private clients, I am the Counsellor at a Cambridge college having previously worked for the University Counselling Service. I have also worked in the NHS and for two other Universities. I mainly work in person, but I offer online sessions to existing clients.
While much of my experience has been working with students, I work with adults of any age. Part of my training also involved working with people 16-23.
Prior to my therapeutic training, I worked as a radio producer, in media training and the charity sector.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
