My original therapeutic training was in psychosynthesis, but I use an integrative approach and incorporate learnings from various modalities including Person-Centred, integrative and soul psychology approaches.
My work encompasses the wide and diverse range of human experience, and I have a particular interest in working with people of colour.
I work holding a context of hope and possibility, whilst incorporating and recognising the challenges that life can dispense which can include discomfort, disappointment, agitation, confusion and uncertainty.
At the heart of my practice style is an attentive and devoted listener. I am willing to take time, to travel with each person, for as long as they need. Often, our hectic world does not provide the space we require for self-connection. In our busy and active lives we are asked to strive, do more, to maintain the treadmill. These behaviours often leave little time to find any space to re-balance, de-stress or to align with our true needs, interests and values.
I offer a safe, confidential, non-judgemental space for individual adults to explore and gain a different perspective on their experiences, suffering and distress. Whilst listening deeply to the message of the presenting difficulties, we work with emerging potential and a desirable outcome.
I am a registered member of UKCP, and I work to their professional, ethical guidelines and I am in regular supervision.
I work face-to face and online via Zoom.
I am qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor with PG Diploma in Psychosynthesis awarded by The Institute of Psychosynthesis in 2002.
An accomplished and experienced professional, I have over 40 years’ experience as a manager; social work practitioner; educator; organisational consultant; mentor and over 23 years as psychotherapeutic counsellor.
My multi-dimensional career has allowed me to acquire a varied and complex range of skills which facilitate numerous disciplines to help focus, inspire and motivate, whilst recognising the social, cultural and political context in which we develop. I have a particular interest in working with people of colour and women.
I am passionate about diversity, equality and personal empowerment and have extensive experience working with identity and difference, helping individuals to reveal the (sometimes hidden) strength and creativity within.
As part of an ongoing practice I am also committed to helping people who have experienced deeply traumatic events to heal and recover from trauma, loss and marginalisation, to enable them to fulfil their potential both personally and professionally.
