My main approach is Existential Psychotherapy, which I use to help support clients through experiences such as bereavement, long-term illness, career change, traumatic relationships and questioning their sense of identity. I sometimes incorporate other ways of working where time is short, such as solution focused brief therapy.
I feel that no-one knows your world as well as you do. However, sometimes, parts of that world can be difficult to explore and understand. I offer you a safe, secure space in which to do so, enabling you to confront challenges and understand relationships and personal boundaries. You can see how things could be different and what is within your power to change. We'll follow a particular method of inquiry and I’ll be alongside you, paying close attention to how you express things, through words, gestures and emotions, noticing also how these things feel in the space between us. I won’t direct you towards a particular course of action. Instead, I’ll bring encouragement, challenge and support in a place that exists just for you.
In 2019, I decided to leave my 20-year technology career and began training to become a psychotherapist. I believe my previous career means I understand the pressures of long hours and balancing difficult decisions alongside priorities outside work. In addition to my private practice, I've worked in the NHS and the charity sector.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
