My clinical approach is integrative and grounded in psychodynamic, attachment-based and Mentalization-Based Treatment (MBT) principles. I am particularly interested in how early relational experiences and attachment patterns shape an individual’s capacity to understand themselves and others, regulate emotions and develop relationships. Psychodynamic thinking informs my understanding of unconscious processes, relational patterns, transference and countertransference, while MBT provides a framework for maintaining curiosity about mental states when emotional intensity or interpersonal difficulties make this more challenging. In both my clinical work and supervision, I aim to create a reflective space in which patients and clinicians can develop a deeper understanding of their experiences, relationships and ways of relating to others. I also offer, when clinically appropriate, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Safe and Sound Protocol interventions (informed and supported by Dr. Stephen Porges, Polyvagal Theory).
Clinical Supervision
My supervision approach is informed by psychodynamic and attachment-based thinking and by my training in MBT. I am particularly interested in helping clinicians develop their reflective thinking about the therapeutic relationship, transference and countertransference, relational dynamics, formulation, risk management and boundaries, and their own emotional responses to clinical work. My extensive experience within NHS adult mental-health and private practice enables me to support clinicians working with complex presentations within multidisciplinary and organisational contexts, and also in their private practice.
"The pathways we take in our lives are influenced by our original relational patterns, experienced throughout our formative years, which tend to evolve recreating themselves. By understanding these patterns we can inform future choices and live a more fulfilling life" I am a senior psychotherapist with over 15 years of clinical experience.
My therapeutic practice is grounded in an integrative, formulation-led approach, drawing on psychodynamic and contemporary neuro-psychological models to understand the complex interplay between early relationships, attachment patterns, emotional experience and present-day difficulties. I offer a flexible range of evidence-informed psychological interventions, tailored to each person's unique needs, experiences and circumstances.
I hold an MSc in Psychotherapy and am a registered member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), whose national register is accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA) for Health and Social Care. This accreditation provides public assurance that the register meets recognised standards of professional practice, education, governance and public protection.
I also hold approved registration for Mentalization Based Therapy practice with the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC).
