My Approach

Starting your therapeutic journey can be a daunting experience. Doubts may creep in about:
- what therapy might involve;
- pouring your heart out to a stranger;
- finding the time or energy for sessions;
- what others might say if they found out you are seeing a therapist; or
- why you need to talk to someone when others seem fine on their own.

I am a Counsellor and Psychotherapist working within an Integrative Humanistic model which means I create a contained safe and confidential space where you feel secure enough to talk about and express your fears and concerns. This facilitates your growth, reaching the level of clarity to best engage with your life and live it authentically.

Presenting issues I work with include: childhood abuse, depression (along with post-partum or suicidal ideation), anxiety (GAD), bereavement, specialising in relationship dynamics and personality disorders that may include Borderline Personality Disorder (Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder), Dissociative Identity Disorder. About Me

I have studied at the reputable Metanoia Institute in London and gained hands-on experience working with clients in various low-cost counselling settings (Metanoia Counselling and Psychotherapy Service, Ealing Abbey Counselling Services), as well as in Mental Health Familiarisation Placements (CAPE Acton and NHS West London). I speak four languages (Romanian, French and Spanish) and have an innate ability to create an empathic and holding space to explore your feelings, thoughts and patterns of behaviours. I take you on a journey of exploration: where you've been, where you are at, and where you want to go, and we explore together what may hold you back from reaching your true potential. I build therapeutic relationships based on trust and rapport with clients that facilitate growth and create supportive and fruitful therapeutic relationships by using my interpersonal skills and expertise in Humanistic techniques.

Quoting Martin Luther King Jr., I believe that you do not have to see the whole staircase to take the first step. Whether you have been contemplating therapy for some time or it is the first time you look it up, I believe it is important to take that first step towards understanding what nudges you towards seeking therapy, without necessarily having a pre-set/complete plan.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I have long aspired to be a therapist, however, due to the societal and cultural preconceptions about this line of work growing up in Romania (my country of origin), I instead pursued a Management and Marketing degree and worked in an array of industries, from hospitality and architecture to pharma. This and other life events took me to Belgium, the U.S.A. and, finally, the U.K. I have gathered first-hand experience with cultural appropriation gained through working in diverse international organisations and living in countries where some of the local culture and society values were similar to the ones I grew up with, while others were completely different, and I struggled with my personal identity. Hence, I meet and support clients informed by and drawing on a wealth of life events, challenges and emotional experiences, bringing along much-needed level of empathy, presence and ability to really sit with my clients in their deepest moments, when nobody else outside the therapy room might be.
From my perspective, a toxic partnership (family, cohabitation, marriage) can drain one's will to live or fight for their rights, even in the strongest of characters (although living in a toxic relationship is equally a true testimony of one's strength, watered down with fear or guilt that can be worked through in therapy). I am an avid supporter of identifying and naming the struggle, reaching out for support and finding your voice, knowing that therapy can be that stable lifeline, perhaps, at times, a provisional and transitory healthier co-dependance to living your best life.
Trying to have a baby, be it your first, or second, or third, is more than a physical struggle. It's excruciating mentally and emotionally, and everyone has something to say about it... How many do you feel get it, though? I offer a safe, non-judgemental space to explore the deepest of feelings and thoughts, fears and worries, express what you feel you cannot even tell your partner or best friend.
I work with multiple presentations, providing long-term individual psychotherapy to clients presenting with narcissistic traits, Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder (Borderline Personality Disorder), Generalised Anxiety Disorder and psychosis, as well as the Dissociative Identity Disorder. Whilst I understand the potential usefulness of diagnosis and classification as means to understand client’s psychological distress and their needs, I meet each client where they are at, seeing and respecting them first and foremost as human beings. Working relationally has proven an effective and efficient way into shifting perspective and improving quality of life. Please note I only work long term with clients presenting with Mental health Issues, irrespective of holding an official diagnosis or not
My aim is to create a harmonious and safe environment where my clients can be themselves without fear of being judged. I strive to create trusting relationships that invite authenticity and provide a nurturing environment. Working relationally is at the core of what I do. Each issue brought to the therapy room is important and I pay a particular attention to the forming of the therapeutic relationship, the dynamics in the room: these inform me of the client's way of engaging in relationships (intimate, work, friendships). Creating a healing, trusting relationship within the therapeutic space by attending to the younger and wounded parts of my clients, they grow a stronger inner core that translates into a confidence to owning their newfound self when they go out into the world. This is how I support clients to find their own path to move forward with life.
