Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

When someone close to you dies, the sense of loss and abandonment can be overwhelming and almost paralyzing. Trying to both acknowledge the deep grief and intense loss while also maintaining some sense of normality in moving forward can feel impossible and overwhelming. Understanding your relationship to grief and exploring strategies to cope is essential within both individual and family systems.
Receiving a health diagnosis can be devasting and depending on the diagnosis, life-changing for the individual and the wider family. Figuring out how to accept and live with this 'diagnosis' can be really tough. Talking openly about its impact and creating new narratives can open up different possibilities for how life can move forward, even if it looks a different now.
We all experience mental health challenges. By being aware of what’s happening for me and developing a better understanding of myself, I can find ways to manage the symptoms of anxiety and depression that affect self-care, sleep, nutrition, relationships, social life, education, and work.
Life’s challenges can cause significant distress, impacting the body, mind, and soul and in the future. Recognizing our trauma responses—fight, flight, freeze, or faint—and how they might relate to childhood attachments is important. Learning to regulate the mind, body, and soul while fostering grounding and stability is a vital part of the healing process.
Exploring how ruptures in relationships impact individuals and the wider family system along with strategies for healing and rebuilding connections. Sometimes these breaks are caused by violence—whether mental, emotional, or physical—and handling them safely is essential for those who witness or are involved.
