I am an integrative psychotherapist. My approach is grounded in the importance of our all our relationships, (with others, self, environment) and in an understanding of how the experiences we have throughout our life shape and evolve us. I am informed by trauma and attachment theory and research. I also align with a 'systems and deep ecology' view of life and how this can helps us understand human experience and the therapeutic encounter in the context of the difficult times we are all living in now. I believe we are all a valuable part of the natural web of life. I have taken lots of further study and training since my initial masters degree in 2010. Buddhist psychology, shamanic practices, spirituality and the theory of living systems to name a few! I am constantly integrating new ideas into my practice. Therapy can mean different things to different people; getting support through a crisis, a journey of self discovery and insight, a way to facilitate and support conscious growth or connections, or change, transitions and transformation. It can even be or become a spiritual practice of mindful reflection and conversation. My own personal therapy has been a valued secure base in my evolution as an adult, parent, elder, grandparent and in my continual becoming as a therapist and supervisor with other practitioners. I love supporting others' journeys.
I offer long and short-term psychotherapy and counselling for adult (over 18) individuals and couples. I hold sessions both face to face and online. I am also a clinical supervisor and approved training supervisor up to level 7. My therapy room is an accessible ground floor office setting in the centre of Long Eaton (NG10) with parking nearby and blue badge parking onsite. A free initial phone consultation is available to you following any enquiry.
I have a background and previous career in social work, adult social care and the welfare sectors and have been a practicing therapist for the last 15 years and supervisor for 5 years. I have chosen to not advertise on large online directories or social media and I do not host a website.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
