What You Can Talk About in Therapy:
You are welcome to talk about absolutely anything that is on your mind. There are no restrictions—you can repeat the same topic as many times as you need to, and I won’t mind. I may ask you questions about it to help us explore further, but you are always free to return to whatever is important for you.
You can talk about your sleep, what keeps you awake, what you dream about.
You can also talk about who you are in the world, how you see yourself, and who you wish to become.
You can talk about politics, religion, race, sexuality and gender. I believe the personal is political and we don’t exist in a value-free vacuum. We can discuss difficulties, biases and beliefs.
There’s always space for talking about sex, especially if you find yourself avoiding the topic.
You can talk about death. Deaths you’ve seen, deaths you fear. People you’ve loved and lost. You can talk about living while wanting to die, and all the complicated feelings that come with that. There is space for grief, love, and ambivalence.
Money is another topic that can be difficult yet important to address. This includes conversations about wealth, poverty, debt, inheritance, or even how you feel about paying for each session and what that might mean for you.
You can talk about what health means to you, how you care for yourself, nourish yourself, and move through your life.
You can talk about what you watch on TV, what music you listen to, what you like to read.
Trivial or important, frightening or joyful, I’m here for all of it.
You can cry for a whole session, shed one tear, or talk about wanting to cry and not being able to.
You can tell me things you’ve never said out loud before. You can whisper your secrets, or we can sit in silence together – both kinds, comfortable and uncomfortable.
Therapy operates on so many levels – whatever you talk about, whatever topics you bring, we’ll also talk about how it is to tell me these things. How you’re impacted by me. How we’re impacted by each other.
I am a Gestalt psychotherapist offering both online and in-person sessions through my private practice in Reading, Berkshire. In addition to individual therapy, I facilitate group therapy sessions at Mind Garden in Reading. These group sessions are designed to encourage shared growth, connection, and mutual support among participants, creating a collaborative environment for healing and self-discovery.
How I work: I work from my therapy room in Shinfield, Berkshire. My practice is within easy reach of the M4 motorway and therefore accessible to the areas of Reading, Shinfield, Wokingham, Winnersh, Woodley, Lower Earley, Spencer’s Wood, Swallowfield, Eversley, Finchampstead, Hartley Wintney, Hook and surrounding areas. My location is on Reading bus routes served by Leopard 3 and Mereoak P&R 600.
Please note my room is upstairs so I’m unfortunately unable to accommodate you if you can’t use stairs.
Sessions usually take place weekly and last 50 minutes each.
My fee for each session is £70.00.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
