My Approach

The therapeutic relationship is at the heart of my approach, and I see this as central to the process of change and healing. My sessions therefore prioritise creating a safe, non- judgmental space in which this can happen. As an integrative practitioner, I am able to draw on a wide range of theoretical perspectives to inform my work, including attachment theory, psychoanalytic theory, and neuroscience, I will also use the arts (including traditional art materials but also mediums such as the sandtray, puppets and drama) to support the
exploration of feelings that can often be difficult to put into words. I am a trauma-informed practitioner and work mindfully with the body to support those who have experienced trauma to process their experiences so that they can learn to feel safe in their bodies again.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

My work is grounded in empathy, respect, and a commitment to empowering young people to build resilience, navigate transitions, and develop a stronger sense of self.I address common age-related challenges such as identity development, peer relationships, family dynamics, academic stress, self-esteem, and emerging mental health concerns like anxiety or depression.
I work with children and adolescents experiencing anxiety is grounded in psychodynamic and developmental principles, with a strong emphasis on creating a safe, attuned therapeutic relationship. I aim to understand the internal world of the young person and how their anxiety is expressed—whether through behavior, physical symptoms, or emotional withdrawal.
Understanding grief processes and the range of challenges that children and young people experience at different developmental stages in their lives. Working in a bereavement charity for many years has informed my psychotherapeutic approach to understanding the diversity and complexity of grief and that while grief is univeral it is also unique to each bereaved individual
I provide therapy for young people and their families impacted by a cancer diagnosis. I specialize in helping individuals and families cope with the complex psychological and emotional effects of cancer.
I work with children and young people who have experienced a wide range of distressing and life-altering events, including bereavement, complicated grief, serious accidents, and other traumatic incidents. My approach is grounded in a deep understanding of developmental psychology, attachment theory, and the neurobiology of trauma. I create a safe, attuned therapeutic space where children feel seen, heard, and supported to explore their experiences at their own pace. I use a combination of talking therapy, play, creative expression, and body-based (somatic) approaches to help children process overwhelming feelings that may be stored not just in the mind, but also in the body.
